Today we went to the Narrows Nature Reserve. At the reserve, my friends and I did many things. The first activity that we did was go to the Nature Center. At the Nature Center, we saw many different types of animals. The first animals we saw were the birds. A volunteer at the Nature Center told us that the birds were injured and would never go back to the wild. At first, I was a bit sad; I realized that the birds would most likely not do well out in the wild since they are not in the best of health. The reserve seems to take good care of the birds. They each had their own enclosure outside. After looking at the birds, we moved inside the Nature Center. Inside, we saw many animals; however, the majority of the animals we saw were not alive. There was many dead insects that people could look at. I first looked at a blue butterfly that was inside a see-through box. I also saw multiple stuffed-dead-animals. The stuffed deer was the most interesting to me. It looked as if it were still alive!
The volunteer informed us that they had live turtles in one room. A group of us went to look at them. The volunteer told us that two of them were Painted Turtles and the other two were Box Turtles. Both sets of turtles were very cute. They seemed content even though they were in a small enclosure. For my sketch, I chose to draw one of the turtles. This turtle stood out to me because it looked so peaceful. It swam calmly around the bin it was in. When I was sketching the turtle, I noticed how symmetrical it was. It had a round shell that looked exactly symmetrical to the other side. After leaving the Nature Center, my friends and I walked along one of the trails. As we were walking, we ran into a very kind woman and a ginormous dog. The dog’s name was Morgen and she was a Newfoundland. My friends and I all fell in love with the dog. The nice woman told us that Morgen weighed 140 pounds! After petting Morgen and making conversation with Morgens owner, we continued on the path. My friends decided to go swimming in the river but I decided not to. I forgot a bathing suit but that did not stop me from having fun. I walked around and observed the nature. I saw a small spider with red dots on its body. It had been weaving a small web along two short green plants. Today was an excellent day. It seemed everyone either got tan or got a sunburn; I am glad I only got a tan!

Today we went to the Narrows Reserve. At the reserve, I saw a lot of animals. In the actual building, we got to see a bunch of turtles. I believe the turtles were babies. As soon as we got into the building, we smelled an odd scent. The room with the turtles smelled even odder. We watched one turtle poop in the water it was in. The turtles looked very calm. They were mostly swimming gently in their containers. The turtles were small and colorful. Many had natural colors liked brown, green, and some darker yellows. There were two painted turtles and two box turtles.
